Tesla Gigafactory 4 in Europe will start Model 3 (Electric Cars, Tesla Cars)

Teknikmobil.com – The success in obtaining official Chinese government permission for Model 3 production at Gigafactory 3 was followed by other good news. Now comes the possibility of Tesla Gigafactory 4 in Europe which will be built soon. In the midst of Tesla’s Q3 report this year they stated that the possibility of operating Gigafactory 4 in 2021. Tesla will also officially announce this possibility in the near future.

To achieve this goal, Tesla is currently trying to determine the choice of location for building this facility. Gigafactory Europe will be similar to Gigafactory 3. Gigafactory 4 will produce the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover .

“We are in the final stages of the site selection process. “Our European Gigafactory is expected to produce the Model 3 and Model Y,” Tesla wrote.

The same template as Gigafactory 3 will likely be used in Gigafactory 4. This is quite reasonable because the vehicles that will be produced are the same type as those produced in China. Tesla’s factories in China have a different approach to those in the United States. In the US, Tesla separates the battery and drive unit production processes, namely in Nevada and Fremont. But in China both productions are made into one complex.

This strategy seems to be inspired by the terms simplicity and efficiency. This concept was first used at the Fremont factory which was established in mid-2018. The concept was proposed by Tesla Automotive President Jerome Guillen and received appreciation from CEO Elon Musk. This cool concept was adopted to Gigafactory 3 and it is possible that the “all-in-one-site” approach will be carried over to Tesla Gigafactory 4 in Europe.

Interestingly, many countries have received an enthusiastic response to the Gigafactory 4 plan. The German state of Lower Saxony and the state of North Rihine-Westphalia (NRW) are two of them. Lower Saxony Economy Minister Bernd Althusmann previously noted that he contacted Tesla CEO Elon Musk last year to highlight the region’s advantages for electric vehicle production.
